Acting President of Kosovo Albulena Haxhiu attended the ceremony marking the start of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
In her speech, Haxhiu said that the enlargement of the European Union is directly linked to the credibility and security of the European continent.

She stated that Kosovo has made its European orientation clear and has fulfilled its obligations.
According to Haxhiu, the country deserves to be treated and assessed according to the same criteria applied to other states on its path towards the EU.
Haxhiu also said that the Irish Presidency could help ensure that the enlargement process retains its credibility, while Kosovo does not remain hostage to political blockages unrelated to its progress.
