Four bids for electric buses, second tender brings hope for success

Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikolloski announced today that four companies have submitted their bids in the repeated tender for the purchase of electric buses, intended for urban transport in Skopje and other areas of North Macedonia.

During a visit to the municipality of Kisela Voda, Nikolloski told reporters that he expects to receive the relevant report on Monday. “This morning I was informed that the document will be ready at the beginning of the week. Four companies have expressed interest and on Monday we will make public all the findings and the evaluation report. I sincerely hope that this call will be concluded successfully and we will secure the new vehicles. I believe that the operators have learned from the previous experience and will have submitted complete and high-quality practices,” he stated.

The deadline for submitting bids for this repeated procedure closed on Monday, and now an evaluation panel, formed by specialists from the Ministry of Transport and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, is analyzing the proposals received. The minister promised full transparency, saying that as soon as he has the conclusions, he will immediately share them with the public.

This process was relaunched after the cancellation of the initial tender, which provided for the procurement of 150 electric buses and 75 charging points. According to plans, 100 of these vehicles will serve Skopje, while the other 50 will be distributed to various cities across the country.
