Following the completion of public hearings in the eight administrative units, Mat Municipal Council met on Monday in an extraordinary session, with the new territorial administrative reform among the items on the agenda.

Twenty of the municipality’s 21 councilors attended the meeting. They reviewed the draft proposal for Territorial Administrative Reform 2.0, presented by the majority, which provides that Klos Municipality will no longer operate as a separate local self-government unit but will join Mat Municipality.
Following discussions and the positions expressed by the councilors, the proposal was put to a vote. Fourteen councilors voted in favor of the draft, five voted against, while another abstained, journalist Enver Doçi reports.
Mat Municipal Council and the mayor of Mat Municipality will submit their position to Parliament on the merger of the municipalities of Mat and Klos into a single unit. The final draft is expected to be put to a vote in Parliament on October 8.
