Following the Kosovo Specialist Chambers’ decision in The Hague to sentence four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos issued a response.

In a post on the social media platform X, Kos said that the Kosovo Specialist Chambers are an independent judicial institution and that their rulings must therefore be respected.
The European commissioner also noted that those convicted have the right to appeal these rulings.
“Its rulings must be respected, and those convicted have the right to appeal,” Kos wrote.
She also called on stakeholders in the region to help advance reconciliation and overcome divisions inherited from the past.
