Harry and Meghan change their children’s school after two days over security concerns

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided to withdraw their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, from the new British school they had begun attending just two days earlier, ITV News reported.

Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, had been enrolled at a preparatory school in Britain after the family moved from the United States to the United Kingdom, following several years there. According to reports, the children are “starting somewhere else at another school.”

The decision is reportedly linked to security concerns. The couple has held discussions with its protection team about potential risks that could threaten the children.

The development comes as authorities reassess security measures for Harry and Meghan while they are in Britain.

Ravec, the British Home Office committee that reviews the security of members of the royal family and other high-profile individuals, is said to have informed Prince Harry that it would carry out a full assessment of the risks facing him and his family.

ITV News royal correspondent Chris Ship said the review was initiated because Harry is now a resident in the country where he was born and his children had started school in Britain.

The process represents a significant development for the family, as the threat to Meghan had not been assessed at this level since 2020, when the couple stepped back from their duties as members of the royal family.

For years, Harry has been involved in a legal battle with the British Home Office over his protection. After stepping down from royal duties and moving to California, he lost his entitlement to taxpayer-funded police security.

The Duke of Sussex has insisted that his position as the son of the British king, fifth in line to the throne and a veteran of the British Army makes police protection necessary during his stays in the United Kingdom.

After his previous court defeat, Harry told the BBC that he could not imagine a time when he would be able to bring his family to Britain safely.

With Harry, Meghan and the children returning to live in the United Kingdom, the family’s security has once again become a central issue.

According to ITV News, the Sussexes currently have only the phone number of a British police liaison officer, whom they can call if necessary. Harry believes this measure is insufficient to deal with an immediate threat.

The family spends millions on private security, but Harry and Meghan’s bodyguards are not allowed to carry weapons in Britain, unlike under some rules in force in the United States.

Scotland Yard does not provide details about specific security measures involving the royal family. Meanwhile, sources cited by the British media say that the level of protection is determined on a case-by-case basis and reviewed continuously.

The British Home Office and representatives of the Sussexes were contacted for comment on these developments, but so far they have not responded.
