A 25-year-old man identified by the initials M.P. was taken into police custody on Monday in the northern area of Mitrovica. He is accused of causing material damage to two cars by hitting them with stones, while an arrest warrant previously issued by the court for the crime of intimidation was also pending against him.

According to law enforcement data, the young man appears as a person under investigation in ten other criminal episodes, including a murder case, incitement of hatred and intolerance, assault on public officials, and illegal possession of a weapon.
In its official statement, the Police announced that on July 20, 2026, they handcuffed the suspect M.P., born in 2001. He is suspected of being involved on July 10 of this year in two incidents recorded at the North Mitrovica Police Station, which were related to destruction of property. Investigations so far show that this citizen struck two vehicles with stones, causing damage.
The authorities clarify that the person in question had managed to evade the blue uniforms on July 14, but after being located again in North Mitrovica, he was stopped despite making new attempts to flee.
“The Police inform that at the moment of intervention, the suspect tried to avoid capture again, but officers successfully neutralized and arrested him,” the official statement said.
During questioning in the presence of his legal counsel, the 25-year-old M.P. confessed to being the perpetrator of the damage to the two cars.
Furthermore, the blue uniforms discovered that an arrest warrant issued by judicial bodies for the charge of “Intimidation” was still active against him.
“Additionally, police system data implicate him as a person under investigation in 10 other criminal cases, including the crimes of ‘Murder,’ ‘Incitement of hatred and intolerance,’ ‘Assault on a public official,’ and ‘Unauthorized ownership, control, or possession of weapons,’ cases that are currently under review by the relevant judicial instances,” the statement emphasizes.
By decision of the state prosecutor, a 48-hour detention measure was applied to the suspect.
At the end of the announcement, the Kosovo Police reiterated its unwavering commitment to identify and bring to criminal responsibility anyone who breaks the law, bringing perpetrators of criminal acts before the justice authorities.
