The process of verifying the signatures of Democratic League of Kosovo delegates for calling an Extraordinary Assembly has concluded. The meeting aims to dismiss the current leader, Lumir Abdixhiku.

However, the exact timing of this Assembly remains undetermined.
The news was confirmed for Radio Dukagjini by party secretary Ilir Ferati, who explained that they are now in the technical preparations phase.
He explained that after verification ended, the finalization of some technical elements is awaited, while the secretariat is working to pave the way for a democratic leadership within the political entity as soon as possible. According to him, once everything is ready, the chairman will be notified and will then promptly send the invitation for the Assembly. Ferati added that there is no reason for delays and that Abdixhiku himself is interested in swiftly concluding this ritual to restore harmony among LDK members.
Regarding recent talks, the secretary reiterated that during the meeting between Albin Kurti and Lumir Abdixhiku, no specific names were mentioned, only principles.
Ferati stressed that no posts or personalities were discussed with the Vetëvendosje Movement during this meeting, but the principles that must be respected to move the talks forward were put on the table. He said they have not yet entered the phase of positions, and one of the fundamental discussion points remains resolving the issue of the president, which paved the way for elections. He recalled that Vjosa Osmani is the official LDK candidate, elected by the general council and also the list bearer, but emphasized that it is still early to talk about names, since without agreement on principles, the process cannot move forward.
When asked what is expected to happen if the coalition partner does not support Vjosa Osmani’s candidacy, the LDK official replied that this depends entirely on Vetëvendosje’s stance and will be addressed within the dialogue between the two parties.
He underlined that it is a matter for the Vetëvendosje Movement, not his party, and everything will be examined at the negotiating table. He repeated that it is premature to discuss names as long as the parties are still debating principles; only after a concrete result in this direction will the topic of figures be opened.
Meanwhile, while Vetëvendosje expresses readiness to resume talks, LDK clarifies that its internal developments are the work of its own structures and that further positions will be made public only after the reconfirmation process at the party’s helm is closed.
Ferati concluded by stating that these are internal matters that require no intervention from any other political force, and that after this process is resolved, just as the chairman has indicated by suspending discussions, the same stance is expected to be held after his reconfirmation. Then, the obligation to form and consolidate new institutions falls to the winning party.
