During searches carried out in the “Baba Rexhepi” neighbourhood, where the perpetrators headed after the attack on 50-year-old Thimjo Rubat, Saranda Police discovered an abandoned motorcycle.
The vehicle was found near the sea, in one of the coves in the area known as “Kasollja”. Investigators suspect the motorcycle was used by the perpetrators of the attack that took place on Friday evening. Since it showed no signs of damage or burning, the investigative team may be able to obtain genetic material that could help identify the perpetrators.

The location of the motorcycle has raised suspicions that those involved may have fled by sea using a watercraft or may have taken shelter in homes in the outlying area.
According to suspicions, the attack on Thimjo Rubat was planned. The organiser is believed to have deliberately exploited the incident the previous day, when the 50-year-old’s son was involved in a conflict with a police officer, in order to steer the investigation in another direction.
There is also information that the perpetrators knew police had seized the DVR containing footage from cameras in the area the previous night. They are suspected of having used this circumstance to carry out the attack in an area not covered by the cameras.
At this stage, sources say the investigation has focused on two main leads: a property dispute and a personal conflict over other motives. Meanwhile, the possibility that the incident was linked to settling scores or revenge is considered unlikely by the investigative team due to the minimal evidence.
