Security camera footage shows a scooter passing in front of the bus. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the driver immediately braked and sharply turned the vehicle to the right.
As a result of the maneuver, the bus lost control, left the road and struck a structure inside the fuel station before overturning onto its side.
Fortunately, the bus passed very close to the fuel pumps, a vehicle that was there and two other two-wheeled vehicles, avoiding a collision that could have had even more serious consequences.
Local residents reacted immediately and helped pull passengers from the overturned bus before emergency teams arrived. The injured were taken to private hospitals in the Koothattukulam area.
Police forces, as well as fire and rescue teams, also arrived at the scene of the accident. According to police, the reported injuries do not appear to be serious.
Preliminary reports indicate that the scooter allegedly passed in front of the bus without giving the required signal, forcing the driver to swerve.
