One week after two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela, acting president Delcy Rodriguez announced seven days of national mourning, after the tremors measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude caused the deaths of thousands of people.
“Venezuela’s spirit has been shattered by the lives lost in these devastating earthquakes,” Delcy Rodriguez said in a message published on Telegram.

She also announced that, “As a tribute to the memory of the victims, I have decided to declare seven days of national mourning starting today.”
The two earthquakes hit Venezuela last week, one with a magnitude of 7.2 and the other 7.5, leaving thousands of victims behind. According to the authorities, more than 50,000 people had been reported missing, while the death toll was expected to rise even further.
