US President Donald Trump has highlighted the record figures accompanying the 2026 World Cup, a tournament currently being co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Trump said he was pleased both that his country is hosting the 2026 World Cup and with the records being set at the start of the World Cup.

“As you know, over the past several weeks, America has proudly hosted the 2026 World Cup. And it is setting attendance records and television records like never before. Who would have thought this would happen! They say it is not our main sport, but it is happening,” Trump said initially.
“I want to congratulate my friend — FIFA President Gianni Infantino. It is fantastic to work with him. He is very happy; everything is a record, it is like having the Super Bowl every day.”
“And I know everyone joins me in wishing the US team the best of luck in their match against Turkey in Los Angeles. They are playing brilliantly,” the US president concluded.
