The intervention came after a group of protesters approached the police cordon, increasing tensions in the area around Parliament.

Citizens had blocked the main exit by sitting on the road, which prevented the government cabinet from leaving.
Following this situation, Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi managed to leave the Parliament, while the rest of them used alternative exits secured by the police.
