The park and sports field in the “Kalabria” neighborhood came under the surveillance of the Kosovo Police this week, while the location is part of the second phase of the monitoring project in the capital.

Lulzim Fushtica, director of security and emergencies, said the installation would continue in other public spaces in Pristina.

“The first park is the park and sports field in the ‘Kalabria’ neighborhood. All parks and sports fields assessed as needing monitoring will be included afterward. Cameras will also be installed in Germia Park, Arbëri Park and Tokbahqë Park—in all the parks,” Fushtica told RTV Dukagjini.

According to him, the installation of cameras in the parks is expected to be completed during this year.

“We plan to complete the work in the parks within this year, while another phase will be carried out next year. This is a three-year contract, although the second phase could also be completed earlier. In addition to the cameras, the installation of mobile speed radars will also be a new feature,” he said.

The installation of the surveillance system aims to prevent damage to toys, benches and other facilities in public parks, which are often damaged immediately after being renovated or installed. Punitive measures have been announced for those who cause damage.
