The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, signed a decree on Tuesday dismissing Vlora Hyseni from her post as Director of the State Intelligence Service.

According to a statement from the President’s Office, the decree was issued pursuant to Article 93 of the Constitution and Article 5, paragraph 2, of the law on the State Intelligence Service.
Hyseni’s removal from office came at the proposal of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The decision was taken on the same day that the Special Prosecution Office took action against Vlora Hyseni as part of criminal proceedings.
Vlora Hyseni had headed SHISH since 2023, when she was appointed to the post by President Begaj following a proposal from Prime Minister Rama.
