Oil part of the Trump–Putin pact: terminal hit in Rostov as Kyiv opposes US supplies from Russia

Trump had earlier announced that the Russian president had agreed to offer oil to the US and international markets. Alexander Novak, Russia’s deputy prime minister responsible for energy, specified the quantities Moscow could send: 300,000 tonnes in October, 500,000 tonnes in November and one million tonnes in December.

According to Novak, over a longer period, supplies could reach up to three million tonnes per month. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky immediately rejected the offer, describing the decision as weak and unworthy of Ukraine’s partners. He said that selling fuel would provide Moscow with additional revenue for the war and give Putin an opportunity to intensify the attacks.

Zelensky also criticized talks between Kyiv’s delegation and US envoys in Florida. According to him, the meetings were used to conceal the energy deal with Moscow. The Kremlin announced that the Putin–Trump communication also covered the war in Ukraine, the situation surrounding Iran and bilateral relations. While Moscow has presented the supply offer, Kyiv warns that Russia’s economic gains could have a direct impact on the war.
