The figures were published by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), based on data from the Nepalese authorities responsible for disaster management.

Government estimates show that more than 84,000 people have been affected by these natural disasters. Thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes, while many houses have suffered severe damage or been completely destroyed.

According to the WFP, the floods have disrupted essential services and affected the livelihoods of communities. As some of the affected areas are difficult to access, the organization has deployed logistics teams to help transport and distribute assistance.

The disaster could further deepen Nepal’s malnutrition crisis. The WFP notes that, before the floods, one in four children in the country suffered from stunting.

Meanwhile, search-and-rescue efforts and the provision of aid are continuing in the affected areas.
