An inmate at Dubrava Prison has escaped after using weekend leave and then failing to return to serve the remainder of his sentence.
According to media sources, it is Veprim Nikqi, who was serving a sentence on a murder charge.

After committing the criminal offense for which he was convicted, Nikqi had illegally fled to Sweden.
At the time, he was 21 years old, while Kosovo authorities had requested his extradition through a warrant issued on November 2, 2010. Nikqi’s extradition to Kosovo was carried out nearly three years later, on October 9, 2013.
Indeksonline has tried to obtain confirmation from the Kosovo Correctional Service regarding this case, but so far has not received a response.
