As of July 1, 2026, police officers of the Kosovo Police and the Albanian State Police have begun joint patrols in the territory of the Republic of Albania, as part of interinstitutional cooperation between the two police institutions.
This form of cooperation is being implemented for the summer tourist season.

In its announcement, the Kosovo Police said: “This joint engagement aims to strengthen professional cooperation, increase road safety and provide the most efficient possible service for citizens and all road users, especially during the summer season when traffic between the two countries sees a significant increase. The patrols are carried out in close cooperation and coordination between the two police forces, reflecting the partnership built over the years and the joint commitment to increasing public safety, preventing traffic accidents and respecting traffic rules.”
The Kosovo Police highly values cooperation with the Albanian State Police and emphasizes that it remains committed to developing joint initiatives that affect the safety of the citizens of both countries.
The announcement also says: “We invite all traffic participants to respect traffic rules, show extra caution while traveling and contribute to creating a safer environment for everyone.”
