Four people have been found dead at a campsite in the town of Gy, eastern France, in a tragedy that has shocked the local community.

The victims include two children, aged 6 and 9, their 42-year-old father, Jean-Paul Monnot, and his mother-in-law, who was also the children’s grandmother.
Based on the initial investigation findings and information published by local media, suspicion has focused on the children’s father as the perpetrator.
The French newspaper “L’Est Républicain” reports that the 42-year-old is suspected of killing his family members with a firearm before turning the weapon on himself and ending his life.
He is also suspected of filming the incident and sending the video to his wife, from whom he was in the process of separating. According to the same sources, he accompanied the video with a threatening message addressed to her.
The bodies were discovered on the evening of September 2 at the campsite where the family had set up their vehicles. One of the victims was inside a van, while the other three were found at a campsite.
French authorities have opened an investigation to fully clarify the circumstances of the tragedy. The couple were divorcing and, according to sources cited by the French media, they had been building a house before separating.
