The Democratic League of Macedonia demands that institutions immediately determine responsibility for Iva Mihailova’s escape, identify potential accomplices, and initiate criminal proceedings against anyone who organized or facilitated her departure.

Mihailova is accused of involvement in a traffic accident with fatal consequences and, since leaving, has become unreachable to the justice authorities. According to the DL, the law must be applied equally to everyone, without exceptions and without untouchable individuals.
The party is calling on the Ministry of Interior, the Customs Directorate, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office to clarify how she left the country, and to investigate whether police or customs officials were involved or failed to fulfill their duties.
The DL considers it particularly alarming that the escape occurred precisely at the moment when it had been accepted that Mihailova’s health condition could be examined by Bulgarian doctors. According to them, this situation raises doubts as to whether the departure was intended to avoid an independent medical assessment, which could have clarified whether her condition was truly life-threatening and whether the previous court decisions were justified, the DL declared. /Telegrafi/
