On the 93rd anniversary of Hasan Prishtina’s assassination, the Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, honored his memory, describing him as one of the figures who shaped the political direction of the Albanian national movement in the early 20th century.
Haxhiu recalled Hasan Prishtina’s statement in the Ottoman Parliament in December 1910: “I am ready to give my life for this homeland at any time.” He spoke these words while opposing violence against Albanians, repression in Kosovo, and the closure of Albanian-language schools.

As she noted, two years later Hasan Prishtina led the 1912 Uprising, through which Albanian demands were transformed into a political program and concrete action.
According to Haxhiu, in the period after 1912, the bulk of Hasan Prishtina’s efforts was devoted to Kosovo and the Albanians who remained beyond the borders of the Albanian state.
Acting President Haxhiu emphasized that Hasan Prishtina was among the leaders of the Committee for the “National Defense of Kosovo” and that Kosovo remained at the center of his political activities even when he assumed senior responsibilities in Albania. She recalled that Hasan Prishtina was killed in Thessaloniki on August 13, 1933, by Ibrahim Çelo, leaving behind more than two decades of political efforts for Kosovo and the rights of Albanians.
