Morina Border Police arrested a 34-year-old man from Kosovo who had been internationally wanted by the German authorities for drug trafficking.

The citizen identified by the initials Y. A., a resident of Ferizaj, Kosovo, was detained while entering the Republic of Albania. The operation was carried out by the Morina Border Police services, in cooperation with the Kukës Local Police Directorate, during checks and verifications at the border entry and exit points to crack down on illegal activities and apprehend wanted persons attempting to move illegally to evade criminal responsibility.
Verifications and the exchange of data with Interpol Tirana revealed that the Wiesbaden Court in Germany had imposed the security measure of “detention in prison” on the 34-year-old. He is accused of the criminal offense of “drug trafficking,” as provided for under German criminal legislation.
Y. A. was arrested for extradition purposes, while Interpol Tirana, in coordination with its German counterparts, is continuing procedures to send him to Germany.
