The Democratic Union for Integration has issued a stern stance against the recent actions of the City of Skopje, stressing that despite the changes made to the entrance signs, the Albanian language still remains excluded.

According to this party, the municipal authorities demonstrated they had the capacity to act quickly when they corrected the images on the signs following public criticism. However, even after these improvements, elements in the native language of Albanians were not included.

From DUI, they underline that this situation is not coincidental but a premeditated choice to bypass language rights and the ethnic plurality of the capital. In a setting where the law recognizes two official languages, the omission of Albanian from public signage is viewed as a serious provocation of political and institutional character and an open violation of legislation.

The party demands immediate intervention to fix the inscriptions, placing the Albanian language where the legal framework and the demographic reality of Skopje require.

The reaction warns that in the event of non-compliance with the provisions in force, all possible legal, institutional, and civic avenues will be used to ensure the protection of Albanian and the dignity of the community.

Responsibility for this ongoing pattern of marginalization, according to DUI, lies with the VLEN coalition, whose submissive approach has fueled the perception that the legitimate interests and rights of Albanians can be trampled without consequences.
