The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the “Safe City” project, which was implemented this year, has contributed to reducing the number of road accident fatalities.
According to Interior Ministry data, 34 fatalities were recorded in the period from February to June, while in the same period last year the number was 55, representing a 40 percent decrease.

“During the period from February to June of this year, the number of people who lost their lives in traffic accidents fell by 40% — from 55 victims in the same period last year to 34 this year.”
The Interior Ministry also stressed that since the system began to be implemented, more than 130,000 traffic violations have been recorded, while more than 95% of them are related to exceeding the speed limit. According to the ministry, this clearly shows that the main threat on the roads is not the cameras, but irresponsible driving.
