A new wave of airstrikes has hit Ukraine, with Russia launching 205 drones during an offensive that began on the evening of October 4 and continued into the early hours of the morning. Ukraine’s Air Force reported that 172 of them were destroyed or incapacitated by the country’s air defenses.

The Russian operation began at around 18:00 local time and involved Shahed, Gerbera and Banderol/Dan-T drones, as well as Parody-type decoy systems. Among the equipment used by Moscow, 49 jet-powered drones were also identified.
To counter the massive attack, Ukraine mobilized combat aircraft, air-defense systems, electronic warfare units and mobile fire teams.
Although the vast majority of the aerial vehicles were neutralized, damage was reported in 13 areas, while fragments of downed drones fell in three other regions.
Tallinn moves forces toward the border with Russia
In a development parallel to the conflict in Ukraine, Estonia is permanently repositioning a contingent of its troops closer to the border with Russia, while also equipping itself with systems capable of reaching targets deep inside Russian territory.
According to reports by the Financial Times, the Estonian government is strengthening its defensive capabilities in response to the risk of possible future Russian aggression beyond Ukraine.
Estonian military and intelligence sources do not expect Moscow to engage in a broad conflict with NATO within the next two years. However, according to analyses cited by the British daily, officials believe Russia is preparing for the possibility of a confrontation with Estonia, which lies on the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance.
Moscow’s response
The Kremlin has officially responded to Estonia’s decision to increase its military presence in the border area with Russia.
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, stressed that the Russian Defense Ministry and other relevant agencies have the necessary intelligence resources to closely monitor and assess any developments along the country’s borders.
