Kurti: LVV will vote for changes to the Specialist Chambers, even though they are rushed

During his speech, Kurti defended the Kosovo Liberation Army’s war, saying it was just. According to him, the KLA’s activities were not merely a response to the revocation of Kosovo’s autonomy, but also a reaction against what he described as Serbia’s genocide in Kosovo.

“There can be no trial for the KLA,” Kurti declared.

He criticized the time available to lawmakers to review the proposals, saying they had not had sufficient opportunity to analyze the amendments to the Law on the Specialist Chambers.

“Rushed actions were also taken in 2015,” Kurti said.

The prime minister described citizens’ anger toward the Specialist Chambers as justified. He recalled that dissatisfaction with the court had also been present in 2015, when it was established, but that it had not been taken into account at the time.

According to Kurti, responsibility for the creation of the Specialist Chambers lies with the people who voted to establish them in 2015.

Despite his reservations about the procedure and timing of the initiative, Kurti confirmed that LVV lawmakers would support the proposed amendments.

“We are supporting you today,” Kurti said.
