This expansion is expected to multiply Kosovo’s air links with the world, offer citizens more travel options, and give a significant boost to the domestic economy.
Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti stressed that Wizz Air’s choice to set up a base in Kosovo confirms that the country is increasingly perceived as a stable point with strong prospects for foreign capital.
He added that this moment proves Kosovo’s growing attractiveness for the civil aviation sector, which brings more destinations, intensifies market rivalry, and delivers direct benefits for travelers and overall economic development.
Kurti also linked the event to the 16th anniversary of the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion, which had found that Kosovo’s independence did not violate any principle of international law.
According to him, the air carrier’s decision to set up at Prishtina Airport clearly shows that Kosovo is turning into a safe investment environment, with a clear vision for growth and great opportunities to connect more closely with European networks of circulation, trade exchanges, and free movement of citizens.
