However, this did not prevent Kosovo Police from carrying out a major operation near the border with Serbia.
In several villages in Zubin Potok, police authorities came across large quantities of weapons.
In three cases, Kosovo Police also disclosed the materials confiscated at these sites.
“Case I: 1 M48 rifle; 5 magazines for a 7.62 mm long firearm; 151 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition; parts of a camouflage uniform; illuminating batteries,” the Police said.
Another weapons confiscation operation was also carried out in another village of Zubin Potok.
“On 21.06.2026, at around 19:00, police units carried out a search of an uninhabited building in the village of Qeçevë, Zubin Potok, after receiving information that weapons and other illegal items might be located there. During the search, the following were found and confiscated: 1 M48 rifle with bayonet; 11 rounds for the same weapon; 33 rounds for a 7.62 mm long firearm; two machines (work tools) for loading hunting weapon cartridges; around 200 grams of gunpowder,” Kosovo Police said.
Investigations into these cases are continuing intensively, while no arrests have been reported so far.
Since the terrorist attack in Banjska in September 2023, Kosovo Police have uncovered a large quantity of weapons in the north.
Some of these weapons were assessed as possibly having been part of the organization of that attack.
