Donald Trump has opened a debate on replacing the term “Artificial Intelligence” (AI), asking users to vote for a different term for the technology that the US president describes as one of the most important developments in recent times.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said that many people consider the term “Artificial Intelligence” inaccurate and inelegant. Instead, he proposed three alternatives: “Superior Intelligence” (SI), “Extreme Intelligence” (EI) and “Supreme Intelligence” (SI).
The US president invited users to vote on which name would best suit what he has described as an unfolding “revolution.”
The renaming initiative was unveiled at a time when the Trump administration is taking new steps to develop and oversee artificial intelligence. On Saturday, Trump also announced plans to create an “AI Force,” modeled on the “Space Force,” as well as to appoint a new presidential adviser on the technology, who will be known as the “AI czar.”
Reuters reported that the president did not explain how these new bodies would be organized or what powers they would be given. The announcements come as debate intensifies in the US over the risks associated with artificial intelligence and the forms of oversight needed for its development.
Trump had previously raised the idea of changing the name. In December 2025, he mentioned the possibility of calling AI “Supreme Intelligence,” saying that he had always considered it a more appropriate name.
