During the funeral ceremonies for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, banners bearing threatening messages directed at US President Donald Trump were displayed.
In the holy city of Mashhad, where Khamenei is expected to be laid to rest after six days of funeral ceremonies and processions, participants carried a large banner reading: “We will kill Trump.”

The same message was also placed overnight on the facade of a hotel in Mashhad. Meanwhile, on Monday, participants at funeral ceremonies held in Tehran were also seen carrying placards repeating the same threat.
These messages come at a time when relations between Tehran and Washington remain extremely tense. On Wednesday, after the close of the NATO Summit, Donald Trump himself said he continues to be the target of threats coming from Iran.
“I get threats all the time. I am number one on their list,” Trump said.
Media reports also speak of internal tensions in Iran in recent days. At several public events, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi faced protests and insults from citizens accusing them of not taking a sufficiently tough stance toward the United States.
According to these reports, some of the protesters called them “traitors” and blamed them for the agreement signed with the US, highlighting divisions that, according to the media, continue to persist within the Iranian regime.
