SpaceX successfully conducted a test flight of its massive Starship rocket just days after a failed attempt in which several engines failed to ignite properly during the ascent phase.

Dubbed Flight 13, this test achieved several significant engineering milestones before the upper stage of the Starship completed its journey with a controlled landing in the Indian Ocean waters, CNN reported.
Additionally, the Super Heavy booster, which separated from Starship about two minutes after launch, managed to perform a similar controlled descent into the Persian Gulf.
Dan Huot, a SpaceX representative, did not hide his enthusiasm as Starship continued to transmit real-time images even during its final descent toward the ocean. “I’m overjoyed,” he said, calling the outcome a “perfect scenario.” He noted that this was the first time the company had successfully placed a completely intact Starship into the sea.
“Number 13 brought us luck,” Huot added, alluding to the fact that this was the 13th test with a fully stacked Starship rocket, including the Super Heavy booster.
This mission represented the second test for the newest spacecraft variant, Starship V3. During the first demonstration in May, a series of engine failures led to a drop in rocket power and an inability to complete the mission.
SpaceX is under considerable pressure to prepare Starship for a critical NASA test flight scheduled for next year, which could pave the way for future missions to the Moon.
Moreover, this marked SpaceX’s first flight since the company went public. The unsuccessful attempt the previous week had negatively impacted its stock price, which is still trading below the Initial Public Offering price.
