State Police Director General Skënder Hita today presented the family of the Martyr of the Homeland with a medal of appreciation awarded to Inspector Enea Mekolli following his sublime act in the line of duty.
The son of the Martyr of the Homeland has now been granted the status of “Child under the care of the Republic.”

On the occasion of the birthday of the son of the Martyr of the Homeland, Enea Mekolli, State Police Director General Skënder Hita, accompanied by senior State Police officials, paid a visit to the Mekolli family.
“I know that no words and no support can replace Enea. I cannot bring our Enea back to you, but I want to assure you that you will never be alone. I, the State Police, every police employee, the Ministry of Interior and the Albanian Government will always be by your side, to support you in every need and at every moment.
Enea’s son has turned one year old. It is a birthday filled with pain over the absence of his father, but also with pride in the legacy he has left him.
The son of our Martyr now has the status of ‘Child under the care of the Republic’ and until the completion of higher education, he will receive Enea’s full salary, free education and healthcare, as well as all other rights provided for by law. We wish this angel a long life, health and prosperity. We hope he grows up with the pride that his father gave his life in the service of the homeland and its citizens,” Hita said.
The Director General handed the family the documentation recognizing the Martyr’s son with the status of “Child under the care of the Republic,” the medal of appreciation awarded to Inspector Enea Mekolli for his sublime act in the line of duty, as well as a symbolic check worth 7 million new lek (an amount transferred to the bank account), a contribution from State Police employees as a sign of solidarity with the Martyr’s family.
“This is a contribution collected wholeheartedly by State Police employees, as a sign of respect, gratitude and solidarity for Enea’s sublime sacrifice, as well as support for the family of the Martyr of the Homeland.
We have the moral and institutional obligation to take care of his family, and we will fulfill this obligation with responsibility and dedication.
You lost your son, we lost a colleague, a friend and an exemplary police officer. But Enea’s name and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We will stand by your side, while his memory will live forever in our hearts, in the history of the State Police and in the honor of all Albanians,” he added.
The Martyr’s family, amid pain and pride, thanked State Police Director General Chief Director Skënder Hita for the continuous support since the day Enea fell as a Martyr of the Homeland in the line of duty.
They also expressed their gratitude to all State Police employees for their solidarity and contribution in support of their family.
