Qatar and Iran resume maritime exchanges between ports after tensions ease in the Persian Gulf

Qatar and Iran have announced that maritime trade between their ports has resumed after movement along this strategic Persian Gulf corridor had been suspended for a period.

In a statement published on X, Qatar’s Ministry of Transport said maritime activities would restart immediately.

Iranian state media also reported that Al-Ruwais port has reopened to Iranian goods, restoring maritime trade exchanges between the two countries. The route between Al-Ruwais and the Iranian port of Dayyer is considered one of the shortest trade routes in the Persian Gulf.

For some time, Qatar has played an important mediating role between Iran and the United States, while consistently supporting dialogue to reduce tensions in the region.

Just a week earlier, Qatari authorities had called for the temporary suspension of navigation and maritime activities due to rising tensions in the southern Persian Gulf.
