Protest Against the Government Enters Its 35th Day / Activist Olgert Rakipllari: The Diaspora Is Harder to Intimidate! They Are Feeling the End, Today Is a Massive Mobilization

As the protest taking place in the country entered its 35th day today, activist Olgert Rakipllari said participation is expanding, stressing that a large number of Albanians from the diaspora will arrive in Tirana today to join the ongoing rally.

“This is a massive mobilization, people have joined us from all the cities of the diaspora. This morning they began gathering in Tirana, and it will be a massive mobilization,” he said, adding that Albanian emigrants represent the most sensitive part of this protest. “All eyes and hearts are on the diaspora, because they are the most affected, because they left as things do not work. The diaspora is harder to control and intimidate,” Rakipllari said on “Fundjavë” on News 24.

The activist also did not spare accusations against the government for using strategies to divide the protesters, saying this has not worked.

“At first they did not acknowledge the protest, then they took it into consideration, and now they are using a divide-and-rule method, but Albanians have now awakened and the consolidated mass is aware and is keeping the revolt from being diverted where the government wants,” he said.

Regarding the protest two days earlier in front of Parliament, where there were also clashes with the police, Rakipllari also claimed that the protesters had been provoked and that the response against them had been intolerable.

“We believe the protesters were provoked and the counterattack was disproportionate, the tear gas was intolerable. This will bring rebellion,” he declared.

All eyes and hearts are on the diaspora, because they are the most affected, because they left as things do not work. The diaspora is harder to control and intimidate. I think that the longer the protest goes on, the more consolidated we become, while the government thinks we will grow tired. Every day we are even more creative.

At first they did not acknowledge the protest, then they took it into consideration, and now they are using a divide-and-rule method, but Albanians have now awakened and the consolidated mass is aware and is keeping the revolt from being diverted where the government wants.

There is a solid mass and the government is feeling the pressure. Now they are dividing them into good and bad, but we have no divisions. We share different opinions, because even within families there is no single opinion. There are those who want escalation, because we are also under provocation from the government.

We believe the protesters were provoked and the counterattack was disproportionate, the tear gas was intolerable. This will bring rebellion. They are feeling the end and are seeking for the protests to be violent and for citizens to become sacrifices for them.
