The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina has announced that a person has been detained on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of “Abuse of Official Position or Authority” and “Forgery of an Official Document.”

Pristina, July 21, 2026 – One (1) person was arrested today following investigative actions conducted by the Serious Crimes Department of the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina, in coordination with the Kosovo Police, specifically the Directorate for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption in Pristina. The case concerns suspicions of abuse of official position or authority by exceeding official powers, as well as the forgery of an official document.
Initial information indicates that the investigation concerns suspicions that permits were issued to several economic operators for the import of biocidal products and pesticides. The use of these products is prohibited in the Republic of Kosovo, based on the European Union’s European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) list.
The suspect, identified by the initials N.M., is under investigation for “Abuse of Official Position or Authority,” as stipulated under Article 414 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (CCRK), as well as for “Forgery of an Official Document,” under Article 427 of the CCRK.
The Kosovo Police carried out the arrest, while the State Prosecutor ordered that the suspect be detained for 48 hours.
The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina stated that, together with the Kosovo Police and other competent institutions, it will continue its efforts to combat crime and corruption. It also announced that all necessary investigative actions will be undertaken in accordance with the legislation in force.
