Veton Elshani, deputy director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region, told KosovaPress that police officers had been deployed to provide support to inspectors from the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure.
“The relevant Police units are assisting Ministry of Environment inspectors during the operation to demolish structures built without permits,” Elshani told KosovaPress.
A campaign to remove illegal constructions in the area surrounding Lake Ujman began on July 21, 2026.
On July 30, Fitore Pacolli, the minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, announced that 17 structures, including villas, had been demolished by that date.
“So far, 17 structures/villas have been demolished in the area surrounding Lake Ujman. This action will continue without compromise and will also expand to other areas of Kosovo, in order to protect public property and ensure the implementation of the law,” Pacolli had written.
