Lawyer and political analyst Spartak Ngjela has reacted to political developments in Albania, calling on Prime Minister Edi Rama to resign from the post of chairman of the Socialist Party of Albania.
In a public reaction, Ngjela says that public dissatisfaction and the protests are not against the Socialist Party, but are targeting Rama himself. According to him, the head of government is failing to properly read the political climate and the stance of public opinion, while continuing to lead the party despite the opposition.

According to Ngjela, this behavior is causing harm not only to the Socialist Party, but also to Albania, because failing to take into account the demands and grievances of the protesters could lead to rising social tensions.
“The protesters are against Edi Rama, but not against the Socialist Party,” Ngjela emphasizes, arguing that Rama’s departure from the head of the party would be a move that would help calm the political climate.
He warns that if the situation continues to worsen and the protests grow larger, civic revolt may no longer remain directed only against Rama, but may also turn against the Socialist Party. According to him, such a development would bring more serious political and social consequences for the country.
Full statement:
Edi Rama cannot understand who he is and what the Socialist Party is.
Public opinion has taken to protest against Edi Rama. But he is pretending not to understand.
And he is greatly harming the Socialist Party.
Therefore, he must resign as chairman of the Socialist Party.
And this shows that Rama is pathological and not a politician.
The protesters are against Edi Rama.
But not against the Socialist Party.
Therefore, Rama must resign, because his stubbornness in remaining at the head of the Socialist Party is harming both the SP and Albania, because the peaceful revolt of the protesters could aggravate the social situation in Albania.
Whereas until now the protesters have risen up only against Edi Rama, therefore…
If this protest continues with increasing intensity, growing in number, the protesters will also rise against the Socialist Party.
Then???
