Nagavci: 2027 draft budget to reach parliament soon, one billion euros for development

The draft law on the 2027 budget is expected to be sent to the Kosovo Assembly soon. Arbërie Nagavci, head of the Vetëvendosje Movement’s parliamentary group, said it allocates one billion euros for development, specifically capital investment.

In a statement to KosovaPress, Nagavci said the draft budget would reflect the government’s priorities and its election campaign pledges. She said particular attention would be paid to defense, security, infrastructure, education and healthcare.

She mentioned the development of railways and dams, as well as investment in the military, education and healthcare, linking these areas to Prime Minister Kurti’s promises. Nagavci said projects of national importance would be included in the budget, but called for their proposals, planning and implementation to be sustainable.

According to Nagavci, projects planned years ago have been delayed because of poor proposals or planning and have taken longer than they should have. She said such practices must not be allowed to recur.

The Kosovo government will hold its next meeting today at 16:00 in its building, according to KosovaPress. The Prime Minister’s Office announced the afternoon meeting, at which the 2027 draft budget is expected to be approved.

At a meeting of his party’s council on Saturday, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said the 2027 draft budget would be sent to the Assembly on Monday. He spoke of more than 1 billion euros in capital investment.

LDK lawmakers have criticized the government, saying it missed the legal deadline for submitting the 2027 budget.
