Kurti warns ahead of verdict for former KLA leaders: “No judicial panel can darken the fight for freedom

On the eve of the verdict in the trial of four former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders—Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi and Kadri Veseli—Prime Minister Albin Kurti acknowledged that the population is experiencing days of tension and deep concern.

He described the Prosecution’s claim as “unfounded and unimaginable,” arguing that it contradicts the historical reality of the people of Kosovo and the very justice of the liberation resistance.

Kurti reiterated that the position of the executive he leads remains unwavering and unequivocal, stressing that crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide were committed against Albanian civilians in Kosovo.

According to the prime minister, responsibility for these atrocities lies with the state apparatus of then-Yugoslavia under the leadership of Slobodan Milošević.

At the end of his statement, the head of government gave a categorical position in support of the KLA:

“No judicial body, whether domestic or international, can stain the Kosovo Liberation Army.”
