Haxhiu congratulated the Assembly’s elected deputy speakers and thanked the attending lawmakers who, through their vote, fulfilled their institutional responsibility.
She explained that the deputy speaker’s post reserved for the Democratic Party of Kosovo has yet to be filled. According to her, PDK representatives were absent from the constitutive session three consecutive times and, for this reason, did not exercise their constitutional right to nominate a candidate.
The post in question remains reserved for PDK. The Assembly will put the candidacy to a vote as soon as the party submits its proposal.
Haxhiu stressed that the institutions must be functional and that Kosovo needs responsibility, decision-making and work. She added that the will of the citizens must be respected, while the process of fully operationalizing the institutions must continue without unnecessary delays.
