More than 20,000 police officers are expected to be deployed, while authorities have significantly tightened inspections and preventive measures.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the country was facing a deeply troubling phenomenon: the rise of violence among the younger generation. At an emergency meeting focused on crisis management, he drew attention to the impact of online material that glorifies violent acts, also citing the spread of Nazi ideology and the so-called culture of domination.
According to the head of government, these trends are fueling violent behavior among young people and contributing to its spread.
Interior Minister Marcin Kerwiński assured that every attack on educational institutions would receive an immediate and decisive response from the state. Police, meanwhile, announced that approximately 80,000 educational facilities had been checked since Friday and that 135 people had been detained.
Among the cases uncovered during the inspections was that of a student who had digitally recreated his school inside the online game Roblox, where he simulated attacks on his classmates. Police sources said that a firearm, ammunition and knives were found in the young man’s possession.
The latest incident occurred on Saturday at a vocational school in the capital, where three people were injured. As a result, the number of knife attacks in Poland’s education system within just four days rose to three.
Earlier, on Thursday, a 15-year-old teenager – a former student at a primary school in northeastern Warsaw – killed an employee of the institution and injured two teachers. Reports indicate that he was wearing a camera mounted on his helmet during the attack.
Another act of violence was recorded on Wednesday at a school in the city of Ostrołęka, north of the capital, where a 19-year-old man injured ten people, including himself.
Although police dismissed claims that the acts had been preceded by coordination through an online provocation by an organized group, the government has made clear that it is preparing stricter measures to curb violence and protect students and educational staff.
