The Council of the Municipality of Dibra today approved the construction plans for Knauf’s new factory in Dibra, an issue that InfoShqip had previously reported on.

The decision was made following a vote by 15 councilors, 14 of whom voted in favor and only one against. The sole objection came from councilor Bardhyl Skara.
Afrim Kërkuti, Altina Canebafto, Krenar Sllova, Beqir Lata, Nazmi Tollumi, Artin Spahiu, Valdrin Delishi, Fatjona Dema, Dërgim Kaja, Bekim Imeri, Arbnesha Pocesta, Adem Idrizovski, Silas Muslioski and Muharem Imerovski voted in support of the proposal.
Knauf’s investment had been made public earlier. During January, the mayor of the Municipality of Dibra, Fisnik Mela, visited the company’s headquarters in Iphofen, Germany, where the possibility of building a new factory with greater production capacity was also discussed. The projected value of the investment is approximately 44 million euros.
The project has also sparked interest because of its potential environmental consequences, as well as the fact that the proposed location is in the center of the city of Dibra. For this reason, informing the public about the environmental assessments and the measures planned to protect the air and the environment will be particularly important.
With 14 votes in favor and one against, the Council of the Municipality of Dibra approved the project with almost unanimous support. /InfoShqip.com
