Gas cylinder explodes near journalist during live broadcast from fires in France, live link interrupted

A television crew from M6 experienced terrifying moments during a live broadcast from the fire zone in Cap-Ferret, near Bordeaux. A gas cylinder exploded just meters away from the journalist in the middle of her report.

The incident occurred as she was bringing footage from the massive fire that has engulfed the Gironde region. A neglected gas cylinder in the area was engulfed by flames and exploded unexpectedly, causing a dense plume of smoke and a shockwave.

The moment of the explosion was captured by the cameras, before the signal was immediately cut to protect the journalistic crew. Fortunately, so far there are no injuries reported from this incident.

These images testify to how high the danger is for all those on the front lines of the fires, including not only firefighters but also reporters.

In southwestern France, the situation remains alarming. The fires are still out of control and have already burned an area of over 190,000 hectares of forest.

The efforts of more than 2,000 firefighters are being hampered by extreme temperatures and strong winds, while authorities are carrying out new preventive evacuations. Over 36,000 residents and tourists have been forced to leave the most threatened areas.
