Authorities in Spain have ordered the evacuation of residents from some areas near Toledo, as a powerful wildfire is spreading in this city, about 75 kilometers south of Madrid.

The speed at which the flames advanced prompted emergency services to send notifications to citizens’ mobile phones, requesting immediate evacuation from the most threatened areas.
Residents of three villages have been fully evacuated. Meanwhile, in a fourth village, citizens have been instructed not to leave their homes and to keep doors and windows closed until further notice.
The blaze near Toledo is the latest fire to hit Spain. For several days, hundreds of firefighters have also been working to bring another large fire under control, about 100 kilometers north of Madrid.
Strong winds, drought, and high temperatures have created favorable conditions for the fires to spread, keeping Spain at a high level of alert for wildfires. Authorities are monitoring the situation continuously and have asked citizens to comply with safety measures and evacuation orders.
