“The evidence is being secured,” a police spokesperson told the German news agency DPA, adding that bomb disposal experts had also arrived at the scene.

The incident became public after damage to a power line was discovered this morning, Die Welt reported. According to the local outlet Märkische Allgemeine, the explosives were found and defused at the scene. Police said there was no danger to residents.

Investigators suspect that the explosives may have been planted with the aim of causing a widespread power outage. However, grid operator 50Hertz told MAZ that services experienced only a “brief interruption.”

According to reports, unidentified individuals are suspected of damaging several power lines belonging to the 50Hertz transmission grid.

So far, there is no confirmed information about the possible perpetrators or the motive behind the incident. As a result, it remains unclear whether the incident in Brandenburg is connected to the incident reported at Leipzig Airport.
