The British Foreign Office described the event as a “serious and reckless attack” and blamed Moscow for repeated actions that it says are aimed at undermining collective security.
“We summoned the Russian chargé d’affaires today to condemn the attack in the strongest terms,” a spokesperson for the British Foreign Office said.
London considers that the episode at Leipzig Airport is not isolated but part of a broader pattern of actions against the security of European countries.
Moscow has denied the accusations, calling them “absurd.”
The event occurred during a period of intense clashes between Russia and Western states linked to the war in Ukraine.
