In a statement given just minutes after the rescue, while she was still on a stretcher, she described the dramatic moments she went through during the seismic tremors.
“When the earthquake started, I held onto the door frame as tightly as I could. I gripped it so hard that it broke my finger,” she recounted.
According to Mora, she did not let go of the door until the entire building collapsed.
“I stayed holding on until all the floors collapsed,” she said, describing the moments of terror beneath the rubble.
The woman also said that at one point she saw the hand of one of the rescuers reaching toward her and grabbed it immediately, making it possible for her to be pulled from the rubble.
Footage of her rescue has gone viral on social media, while search-and-rescue operations continue to find other people who may still be trapped under the rubble.
