Competition for head of the Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office expected to be announced in August

The Council of Public Prosecutors has decided to open the procedure in August for selecting the public prosecutor who will lead the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption. The competition will be announced within the deadlines set by law, before the current head’s term expires.

At today’s meeting, the Council appointed Zoran Markovski as a basic public prosecutor at the Kriva Palanka Prosecutor’s Office. New heads were also appointed at three basic prosecutor’s offices: Suzana Boshniakovska in Berovo, Darko Cvetanoski in Sveti Nikole and Edmond Sherif in Resen.

Among the decisions adopted was the determination of the number of positions for public prosecutors over the next five years. The new staffing structure provides for a total of 261 positions, while 194 public prosecutors are currently serving.
