Around 20 people were injured this morning in the east of the Netherlands after an Austrian tour bus carrying secondary school students from Germany collided with a delivery van. According to Dutch police, eight of those injured were taken to hospital.

Police in Gelderland province said in a post on X that several of those hospitalized are in serious condition, while the others suffered minor injuries.

The collision occurred at around 4 a.m. on the A28 motorway, near the town of Weeze, approximately 100 kilometers east of Amsterdam.
A police spokesperson said that more than 50 people were traveling on the bus. The driver of the delivery van was also among those injured.
As a result of the accident, the A28 motorway was blocked in both directions.

Photos released by police show firefighters removing students from the bus through its roof. A large number of passengers were injured by shards of the vehicle’s shattered windows.
