Protest continues in Divjakë, residents mark day 36 against Socialist Party reform

The chant “Divjakë is a municipality!” was repeated throughout the gathering, as citizens renewed their opposition to the proposed project.

The grievances expressed during Friday evening’s protest were also linked to the area’s member of parliament, Ana Nako. Residents opposed her participation in a meeting held that afternoon in the Gradishtë administrative unit, in the village of Këmishtaj, which the MP had called a “meeting of trust.”

Protesters stated that no one attended that meeting to give Ana Nako their “trust.” They asked the MP to come before the citizens in the square and clarify her position on the administrative-territorial reform, as well as on the future of Divjakë Municipality.

After the 36th protest concluded, residents marched through the city streets. They made it known that they will continue their resistance in the coming days.
